Key Architectural Decisions (from team discussions)

The following decisions are in effect and reflected in the current architecture:

  • Media storage: AWS S3 with CloudFront CDN (selected over GCS and Azure Blob Storage)
  • Database: PostgreSQL with PostGIS extension for geospatial data (selected over pure graph DB; relational model covers current requirements)
  • Media annotation: C2PA content credentials embedded in captured media, capturing GPS coordinates, device sensor data, and timestamp
  • Buzzard codebase: Retained for reference; transition to Peregrine is complete (see Buzzard to Peregrine Transition)
