The Power of the Network: Building the Phenom Community

Logan here. An app is a tool, but a community of observers? That’s a force multiplier. Here’s how we’re building that out with Phenom.

Logan again. Been thinking a lot about what makes a real difference in this field. We’ve been grinding on the Phenom App, getting the core tech solid. But a tool, no matter how good, is only one part of the equation. The real power comes when you connect the people using it. That’s why, as we hit early 2024, building out our community features became a top priority.

Look, I’ve been around this UAP topic for a while, both in my Air Force days and since. One thing that’s always clear is that the more credible eyes we have on the sky – and the better the data they collect – the closer we get to some real answers. It’s like I was saying on JRE with Joe back in January (#2264), we need to move past just stories and get to verifiable information.

We’re not the first to see the power in numbers. You look at something like iNaturalist – folks out there documenting wildlife, building incredible datasets. Different subject, sure, but the principle is the same: distributed observation works. We want to bring that same energy to what we’re doing with Phenom.

So, what’s on the roadmap? We’re working on ways for users to, if they choose, share anonymized data trends. Think about identifying patterns, hotspots, that kind of thing. We’re also looking at curated collections – maybe focused observation campaigns on specific types of phenomena or locations. And your feedback, especially from our early testers, has been gold. You’re telling us what you need to make this more than just an app, to make it a genuine hub for this work.

The public interest is there, no doubt. Every time there’s a new declassification, like when those Navy videos (“Gimbal,” “Go Fast”) officially dropped, people want to know more. Our job is to give them the tools to turn that interest into actual, useful data.

It’s a big lift, but it’s worth it. We’re building a platform that’s about solid data capture and empowering a community of serious observers.

Stay vigilant.

Logan
