The Devil's in the Details: Why Specs Matter

Logan. Digging through some old files, found this piece from way back in 2018. It’s mostly placeholder stuff, a template really, but the title I had on it, “In-Depth Monoliths Detailed Spec,” got me thinking. Even then, before Phenom was even a sketch on a napkin, the importance of detail was on my mind.
You can’t build anything complex, anything that’s supposed to be reliable, on vague ideas. Whether it’s a piece of software, an intelligence report, or an investigation into UAP, the details are where the truth lies. Or, at least, where you find the path to the truth. As I’ve mentioned, sometimes on podcasts like JRE (#2264), the difference between a compelling case and just another story often comes down to the quality of the documented evidence.
This old post was just a bunch of lorem ipsum, but it’s a good reminder:
- Clarity is Key: If you can’t explain it clearly, you don’t understand it well enough.
- Assumptions are Dangerous: Write it down. Test it. Verify it.
- Structure Matters: How you organize information can be as important as the information itself.
We’re applying these principles to everything we do with the Phenom App – from the way we design the user interface to how we structure the data it collects. It’s about building a system that’s robust, reliable, and, above all, useful for gathering the kind of detailed, credible observations this field desperately needs.
This old file might be an example, but the lesson is real.
Stay focused.
